The Ashanti Regional Chairman for Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA) , Mr. Joseph Mensah said any driver who illegally increases fare should be reported to police for an unauthorized root of increasing fares.
In an interview with Nana Kwabena Ampratwum on Silver Omanbapa morning show, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of (PROTOA) Mr Joseph Mensah, noted there are a lot of challenges which is confronting Drivers that needs to be looked up to.
He further admonished consistant increase of Fuel, Spare Parts among others things as problems affecting them.
He said although, there is a consistent increment of fuel prices but that does not guarantee any Driver to increases fares illegally, failure for any Driver to comply to their directives needs to be reported to police.
He further, said they are working tirelessly in hand with the Ministry of Transport and the government on the increment of fares.
Mr. Joseph Mensah emphatically told the media , they’ve not increase fares and they don’t support any unauthorized increment of fares but rather they are working on it the issues.
Prior to this issue, the Ashanti Regional Chairman for GPRTU ,Mr. Alhaji Sumaila Boakye said they will be meeting the National Executives, sixteen Regional Executives and Minister of Roads and Transport on how the matter can be settled down.
Commenting about the unauthorized increment of fares by some of the Drivers, he said the hardship drivers are going through doesn’t guarantee them to increase fares illegally.
He finally said , GPRTU has not increased fares, so Drivers should stay calm because they will had a meeting with the National Executives and Minister of Roads and Transport on the matter to be settled.
