Tain Constituency is arguably the most popular in the Bono Region.
This constituency, carved out of Wenchi then known as Wenchi West has a lot of history and mystery in the politics of Ghana.
The final deciders of the presidential election 2008.
The rosebed and playground of General Mosquito and the ever one term seat for members of parliament since it’s creation in 2004.
The appointment of District Chief Executives for the District especially under the New Patriotic Party is a ripe research for political observers and policy makers.
The race for the DCE position is the most contested in the region with 16 contestants and it has been joined by the immediate past member of parliament for the constituency.
Hon. Gabriel Osei is in the race. Yes, he lost the second bid to parliament and wants to settle on the DCE position.
What cost his defeat in the 2020 elections is the feud between him and the outgoing DCE, Hon. Akua Foriwaa Dwomor.
These two have been fighting and creating factions since they assume leadership positions of the party in 2017 until the party lost the seat in 2020 in disunity.
Why are they interested in becoming DCE?
Well, no one can tell, but their supporters are charged up to fight against each other if any of them is chosen above the other.
Are there men/ women to become DCE apart from these duo?
The answer should be left to the appointing authorities.
During the tenure of forner president Kufuor.
All his two appointed DCEs for Tain were not residents and had never taken part in the local politics of Tain.
President Akuffo Addo also appointed Charity Oforiwaa Akua Dwomo from the 21 aspirants of DCE from Tain in his first Term.
The choice of the DCE for Tain may consider a party faithful or follow the history of chosen outsider.
Local media within Tain and Sunyani are keenly following what would happen.
Space FM and Moonlight of Sunyani have reported that; some angry youth and Patriots are fiercely resisting the appointment of a DCE from outside the party Loyalist and pleading with the appointing authorities to consider the other aspirants apart from the two factioned personalities.
