Stakeholders in adolescent reproductive health combine forces to combat alarming rate of teenage pregnancies in Techiman

The alarming rate of teenage pregnancies in the Techiman municipality in the Bono East Region has moved stakeholders in adolescent reproductive health to combine their forces to hit the grounds in combating the menace.

At a community outreach and sensitization program at Asantanso, Miss Millicent Ocloo, the Bono East Regional Project Coordinator of Purim African Youth Development Platform (PAYDP), a non governmental organization leading the campaign called on stakeholders to join fight against fighting teenage pregnancies in order to safeguard the future of our girls.

In addition, Julian Harrison Mutar UNFPA focal person pleaded with parents to live up to their responsibilities by providing the physical and emotional needs of their children in order not to push them astray or expose them to peer presures.

For their parts, Nana Kwadwo Oti Odikro of Asantanso and Hon. Takyi Stephen assemblyman for the area unanimously vowed to continue with the campaign by spreading the message to all sorrounding communities.

Finally, some of the teenage girls who attended the program pledged to be of good behavior and advised their peer teenagers to do same.
