The Former Member of Parliament for Tema East Constituency, Hon Titus Nii Kwartei Glover, has rendered an unqualified apology to former President John Dramani Mahama.
In what seems to be a strange culture in Ghana’s politics, the NPP former Member of Parliament has openly demonstrated a sense of maturity and has regreted on once casting a slur on the persona of Mr Mahama for a mere political gain.
According to Mr Glover, he made some comments against Mr Mahama’s person during a political discussion.
The nature of Ghana’s politics is one of character assissination, strongly targeted at main political players in order to mar them for political gains. This level of vicious venom, continues to discourage a lot more people from actively engaging in politics, describing it as a ”dirty game”.
Whilst the decision by the former law maker to render an unqualified apology to Mr Mahama has been a welcoming news to the NDC family, other people are of the view that politicians should learn from his action and desist from character assissination which is aimed at crucifying opponents for a mere political gains.
For Mr Titus Glover, after years of sober reflection, he has realised that his comments were unfair and derogatory, hence, the need to openly apologise for his comments.
“In one of my submissions, I quite remember, I said that Mahama’s attitude and comments clearly depicts someone losing his mind.
“But my conscience has not allowed me to rest after a month of deep reflection on my words and I will really like to apologise because those were strong words,” he said on Adom TV’s Badwam show.
