The NDC’s Member of Parliament for Bia East in the Western North region, Hon. Richard Acheampong on Thursday, April 8, 2021, distributed 195 sewing machines to new apprentices to aid in skills development and also reduce unemployment rate and its associated social vices.
This gesture was necessitated by the National Apprenticeship Programme(NAP) in the 2020 NDC manifesto.
Even though, the National Democratic Congress failed in the bid to return to power, the MP saw the need to adopt the policy for the betterment of his constituents.
The event was the first in a series of similar ones to occur in the coming months and years.
The MP through the Constituency NAP coordinator, Mr. Seidu Amadu, has more than a 1000 youth into various skills based ventures, such as fashion and design, hair dressing, tiling, carpentry, welding, fitting, masonry among others.
Hon. Richard Acheampong, in his presentation at Adabokrom, the district capital, said ”the next phase of distribution of equipment is due in few months”. The Member of Parliament tasked beneficiaries to put the machines to good use and reiterated his desire to ensure human development in the constituency; devoid of political and ethnic sentiments.
The traditional leaders, constituents, representatives from the district assembly, executives and members of the National Democratic Congress, were present to witness this momentous occasion.
Beneficiaries( from Adabokrom, Alhajikrom, Kaase, Bredi, Camp Junction, Camp 15, Bukarikrom, Kwasare) on the other hand expressed their graditute to the MP and his team and prayed for more of such intervention programme.
