AKUFO-ADDO DISAPPOINTS BONO EAST REGION IN HIS MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENTS – NDC COMMUNICATION OFFICER

I thought I should mind my business, after all whatever an illegitimate president does is of no relevance to me a legitimate citizen of Ghana. But no! My grandfather ones said, when the wise men decline to attend a community meeting to take a decision, “the stupid men” will do and their decision will be binding on both the stupid and the wise. And like President Akufo once said, though plagiarized; “we have to be citizens and not spectators”. It is on the basis of these that I’m putting together this piece of writing.

President Akufo Addo haven assumed the mantle of leadership for his second term though on questionable grounds,  has almost concluded with the appointment of ministers of state and deputies to serve in his government. On a rather sad development, President Akufo Addo has brutally snubbed the people of this region without regard for the chiefs and opinion leaders of the region as far appointments of ministers and deputy ministers are concerned.

It must be noted that, so far no one has been appointed as minister of state from Bono East region, both substantive and Deputy ministers have eluded people of the region.

This development have left many wondering whether the people supporting NPP in the region are not qualified to take up such positions or the president as usual of him is distributing the positions to people he has special relationship with! Others also believe the president has no respect whatsoever for people of the region and that he demonstrated by ignoring the people of the region in appointing his ministers. While Ashanti region, Eastern region, Greater Accra region etc, have had the lion share of these appointments, Bono East region has zero.

On the contrary, his Excellency John Mahama ensured a fair shared of these appointments with Bono East region which was then under Brong Ahafo region getting a deserving part of the appointments. Hon Kwabena Donkor was appointed minister for power and hails from Yeji which form part of Bono East. Similarly, Hon Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare who also hails from Techiman was also appointed to Ministry of Tourism and creative art. Also, Hon Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum and Hon Yaw Effah Baafi were appointed to Ministry of Local government and rural development and Ministry of Chieftaincy, culture and traditional affairs respectively as deputies. Indeed, the East part(Bono East) of the then Brong Ahafo region will forever be grateful to his Excellency Former President Mahama.

To end it all, I want to call on the chiefs, opinion leaders and people of Bono East region especially supporters of NPP to let their voices be heard in matters of this. This singular act of President Akufo Addo and the NPP has shown that, they do not regard people of Bono East as Ghanaians of good standing. It is simply unimaginable that, while the entire nuclear and extended family of Akufo Addo have been appointed into his government, not one person from Bono East region caught the attention of the president to deserve ministerial appointment.

End.

Long Live Ghana!
