pt(Rtd) Peter Lanchene Toobu assures NDC members of due diligence

Dear Comrades

I have followed the raging debate between the grassroots and NDC Members of Parliament particularly those of the Appointments Committee on the need not to compromise our unyielding stance as demonstrated on the 7th of January 2021 during the election of the speaker of the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic.

From the embarrassing Ayawaso West Wuogon bye-election violence that left many injured and still in pain, through the many violent incidents with some fatalities during the 2020 General Elections to the full blown thriller in Parliament on 7th January 2021 , it is clear that the NPP is always prepared for the worse case scenario.

Our militant, proactive, defensive and fearless approach even in the presence of an illegally deployed armed soldiers in the Chamber of Parliament, have energised the party right to its base.

The grassroot is convinced that the assessment of our capabilities on 7th December 2020 could not be wrong. That they have the finest 137 MPs who can stand boot-to-boot with the majority GROUP in Parliament is never in doubt.

The pain in our support base as a result of lives lost and the continuous intimidation and show of impunity by the NPP Administration  is excruciating. It’s therefore normal that our support base wants MPs to meet their expectation by ensuring that the 8th Parliament emboldens respect for diverse political opinions. They want to see that a presidential nominee with a lot of scars visible to the general public is not an automatic appointee.

For me, the emotional discharges should be brought under control as the Leader, Hon Lawyer Haruna Iddrisu , Hon Member for Tamale South, his Deputy Hon James Klutse Avedzi and Operations Commander (Chief Whip) Hon Mubarak Muntaka Mohammed have not been changed.

They led us to victory in the speakership election without announcing the winning strategy to the grassroot.

Similarly, let’s remain calm and allow them the discretionary space as the battle remains the Lord’s.

Take note, strategies do not flourish with emotive vituperations .

Fellow Comrades, let’s trust in leadership as it is the most disciplined thing to do. We are in uncharted waters (NDC 137, NPP 137) that requires us to think outside the box in search of innovative ways to dominate the political space.

Leadership is simply INFLUENCE.
