A Ghanaian UK based Lawyer, Kwaku Aboagye Esq, has commended the leadership of the National Democratic Congress and their Members for the unprecedented feat achieved in the 2020 General Elections.
Lawyer Kwaku Aboagye alluded to the fact that though the governing Party, the NPP resorted to a lot of ”other tactics” in an attempt to appease Ghanaians, the NDC were able to surmount these challenges to come out with a huge story and admonished the leadership of the National Democratic Congress, to put their houses together and eschew complacency for a positive outcome for the coming years.
I think that it is high time we took the opportunity to reflect on the performance of this great party in the just ended General elections. Such a diagnostic exercise must be carried out with total honesty and open-mindedness as it affords the party a tremendous opportunity to rectify issues that could have been done in a different way.
In my honest and sincere opinion, the party’s performance in both the presidential and the parliamentary elections were outstanding. Notwithstanding the various electoral malpractices across the country, particularly, in the Asante Region, the outcome of both segments of the election are indictment on the integrity and the capability of the incumbent government. This is a de facto victory for NDC and members of this great fraternity must not be emotionally and mentally detracted by the mediocre performance of the electoral commission that nearly jeopardise Ghana’s proven democratic establishment.
However, there were many issues which the party failed to take advantage of. These issues will be outlined and comprehensively discussed in due course. Other strategies to enhance, promote and maximise the party’s chances of victory in the next general elections will also be discussed in depth in due course.
There is no such thing as defeat. Every defeat is a potential learning curve and experience. The party has the human resources and the ability to wrestle power from the already-dismantled and feeble NPP.
We must admit that it is still not going to be a mere walk-over and so we should not entertain even just an iota of complacency . The primary target still remains to be the Asante region, however, equal proportion of attention is required across the remaining regions.
In conclusion, the party’s performance in the 2020 general election was fantastic. However, there is more work to be done and, members are encouraged to continue the hard work they started in 2020 in order to snatch power from NPP.
